Look carefully at the center of the photograph and you will see a brand new modular home that was delivered to the coast of the Long Island Sound in East Haven, Connecticut just last week while the weather was fine. This photograph was taken Tuesday afternoon after Hurricane Sandy hit and caused horrific damage. Look carefully - you will see that the modular home is unscathed and suffered no damage. Do you think Modular Homes are strong? This was a significant enough event that Gov. Dan Malloy (D-CT) toured this house site. (Gov. Malloy is in the center of the picture) Look carefully at the house to the right, that is a brand new stick built home. It is 100% demolished and will be torn down and hauled off to the Land Fill. The history of these two homes is riddled with irony: both homes, the demolished stick-built home and the modular are replacements for homes that were destroyed last summer by Irene. Typically here in Vermont we are not exposed to the severe weather that happens along the sea coast but, none the less wouldn’t you rather your new home be super strong? We can think of thousands of Vermonters that suffered with Irene; they wish they had this kind of strength. Lastly, the manufacture of the home in the photograph is Professional Building Systems, Inc. Vermont Modular uses PBS as our primary builder. We are proud to be a part of such a great team.
