The Cape Cod style of architecture was created by early settlers in the 1600 hundreds generally with a story and a half and a high pitch roof. Typically Cape Cod style homes are symmetrical with a central front door surrounded by two multi-paned windows on each side. The actual name "Cape Cod House" wasn't coined until 1800 and it has remained an Icon of American architecture ever since. It is the quintessential New England home; no wonder it is so popular throughout Vermont. In the next few days we will walk through The Breakwater Cape.
