The day a modular home is hoisted into place on its permanent foundation the biggest piece of equipment on the entire job is the hydraulic crane capable of heavy lifting in excess of the weight of a typical module.  We frequently get asked, " much does a module weigh?"  That's a difficult question to answer as it depends on how big the module is and what is inside.  It is very common for a single module to weigh somewhere close to 30,000 pounds or 15 tons.  Don't forget that is only one module.  Our most recent house set was comprised of five modules all on one floor for a potential weight of 60 tons of home.  Our next delivery is a two-story colonial that is comprised of four modules.  See why the crane is such a vital part of the job?  By the way, the heavier each module weight is a clear indication of how much building material in included within each modular home.  Very impressive!  Building a modular home is a very exciting adventure.  Call us.
