We have talked about pouring a foundation, water proofing a foundation, back-filling the foundation, and today we will show you that at the very top of the foundation wall pressure-treated "Sill Plates" are attached. The sill plate is the actual thing that the house will sit on. Your new home technically never comes in contact with the concrete, it rests on top of the pressure-treated sill plate. Look carefully and you will see that the sill plate is secured to the concrete with the use of Simpson Strong-Tie straps that are installed in the concrete when the wall is being poured before the wall dries. There is much more to building a good foundation that meets the eye.
