Talk about tiny changes making a big difference, today we are going to talk about Swing Away Door Hinges. Over a bunch of years we have all tried to move something through a door whether it was a bed or a refrigerator, somehow it's always a squeeze. How many times have we ended up taking the door off by removing the door hinge pin. I'll bet all of us have done that at one time or another. Some times the pins come right out and most of the time it is a struggle. Personally I skinned a knuckle several times or while tapping lightly with a hammer. I've missed and whacked the woodwork, that never goes over well. The skinned knuckle isn't exactly a treat.
In your new Empty Nester Home how about if we install "Swing Away Hinges" throughout. These hinges allow the door when it is open to swing completely out of the way leaving the door opening that much wider. I'm not really concerned with moving refrigerators through doorways, that only happens once in a blue moon. However, we are constantly going in and out of bedrooms, bathrooms, and whatever; wouldn't it be great if the doorway was that much larger? What if a wheelchair or walker was ever necessary? It makes so much sense to plan ahead now for possible problems later on.
