Where is the best place to start? After all it seems so overwhelming; how do we know where to start? These are questions and concerns that we hear all the time, especially from first home buyers.
Let’s face it, buying a home or building a home, can be an extremely daunting task that requires a decent scope of understanding. Hopefully our series of blogs posts will be of some assistance. Since the process and enormity of the what you are about to undertake really is big, please don’t expect us to cover everything in a two or three paragraph post.

Where are we? Where are we in the Real Estate market? Simply put, there are two types of housing markets – there is the “Sellers’ Market” and of course “The Buyers’ Market.” As probably everyone knows northern Vermont is in the midst of a Sellers’ Market where it is easy for the seller to raise prices and hold out for better conditions surrounding the sale.
Oh dear…….., that is not what you wanted to hear on the opening blog about building your new home but, it is the truth. The concept behind what is going on is quite simple.
- First, there are a lot of people looking to buy or build. In the U.S. and Vermont there are two huge groups of people very active in the Real Estate market. There the Baby Boomers and Millennials; these two BIG population groups are actively driving housing markets.
- Baby Boomers – today’s Boomers (1946 – 1964) or ages 53 to 71 are actively looking to “down-size” their home and move into something smaller and easier to work with.
- Millennials – the Millennials are now the largest single population/demographic group in America. They were born 1980 to 1994 and are now ages 23 to 37.
