As far as interior design is concerned there are three huge things to consider:
- Floor coverings
In addition, the fourth is Lighting. In every home the amount of light whether it is natural light that comes in through windows or artificial that comes from a light bulb is critical to creating the ambiance of all interior spaces.
For those of you that regularly follow our blog you know that we are constantly talking about Energy Efficiency and today’s blog about windows will deal with the Performance of windows.
As you know the insulating value of a home is measured in “R-Values” with the “R” standing for Resistance. The better the thermal resistance to heat loss the better the insulation.
When it comes to windows their performance is measured in “U-Values.” And, the “U-Value” of a window measures the speed which heat passes through the glass. So, the lower the U-Value the better the window.
Take a look at today’s photograph and it shows a sticker from one of our new modular homes. Towards the top of the sticker it clearly indicates that it is a triple pane window that is filled with Argon Gas and has Double Low E soft coating on the glass.
Typically, homes are built using only double pane glass, we improve on the quality by using only Triple Pane glass.
A thorough and detailed explanation of how a high-performing window could easily go on and on for a long time. Suffice to say a window with Three Panes of Glass, two layers of Low E, and filled with Argon Gas is going to serve you well for years to come.
A high performing window will save you a lot of money as it conserves Energy. In addition, its Solar Heat Gain is significantly lower so it keeps you cooler during the summer.
Why doesn’t everyone install Triple Pane windows? I don’t know! What are your thoughts?
