The very first few days of a New-Home job site aren’t the prettiest part of a project, but they just might be one of the most important parts.
In today’s photograph you are looking at brand-new concrete footings. These footings are the very bottom of a project, it is on these footings that the entire home is sitting, they carry 100% of the home’s weight.
I am not sure, but I am going to calculate the weight of everything in this 56’ Ranch House to be in the neighborhood of 100,000 pounds or 50 tons. I am thinking these footings need to be strong!
Look carefully and you will see pieces of Tie-Rod protruding upward out of the footings, these will go upward into the poured concrete vertical walls and they “pin” everything together creating a stronger wall system.
Outside the footings, perimeter drains will be installed, and those drains will guarantee a dry basement. This home is going to be on a crawl space as the “water-table” is too high and that eliminates the possibility of a full basement.
Check with us tomorrow when you will be able to see the concrete wall that has been poured.
Whether you home is up in the mountains near Stowe or next to one of Vermont’s many Lakes such as Lake Willoughby up near Barton Vermont we can build you a foundation that is just perfect for your corner of The Green Mountain State.
Check with us tomorrow and watch this project move along.
