As I am sure everyone knows that the weather report for the upcoming weekend is for extreme heat. The actual temperatures being predicted for this weekend here in northern Vermont are in the mid 90’s with “Heat Index Values” of 101 degrees. The National Weather Service says those extremes will be the worst Friday and Saturday afternoon.
We would like to comment on two things:
First – the generally accepted Air Conditioning temperature is 78 degrees. That is the optimum temperature where you achieve the greatest comfort and most efficient use of energy for Air Conditioning. So, what are your thermostats set at?
Second – we here at Vermont Modular are constantly talking about Energy Efficiency and most of the time it is about the winter’s Heating Season. We talk a lot about Heat Loss, Cold Air Penetration, and what are some of the best ways to save on your heating bill while at the same time having a smaller impact on our environment.
But, do you realize that many times more energy is consumed to cool the air during the summer than heat the air in the winter?
Oh sure it is fun to sit outside in a beautiful yard, see today’s photograph, but let’s not forget about Energy Conservation in our homes that will save BOTH on heating and cooling.
Here at Vermont Modular we emphasize:
- Highly insulated homes with some of the best performance in Vermont
- Triple pane windows throughout
- Efficient heating and cooling such as Cold Climate Heat Pumps
- Efficient LED lighting
- Reflectivity as an integral part of your energy savings plan
- Efficient appliances that perform well throughout the year
