What’s the big deal with Cold Air Penetration? Let’s face it most smart people shut, block, close off, and seal off most of the cold air from coming in. It’s not as though we leave the front door open. Remember when your mother would say, “….shut the door! Are you trying to heat outdoors?”
The US Department of Energy (DOE) has just recently published their predictions for financial savings as America conforms to contemporary Energy Codes.
As all of you know Vermont Modular continually talks about Energy Efficiency, savings money, not contributing to Global Warming, doing the right thing for our Environment. These are all key Core Values of Vermont Modular.
All of us at one time or another have heard for been told that, “….your house needs to breath.” There are many “old time Vermont builders” that sincerely believe that a new home should breath.
This fall Vermont Modular has become a very busy place. Last week we ordered a big house for central Vermont and as we speak there are two homes in the plant being built.
It seems as though all summer long people are “…at the beach” enjoying summer in Vermont. But, just in case you haven’t noticed the leaves are turning and almost everyone has turned on their heat. I’ve had the heat on for a couple weeks.
We live here in Vermont where many will comment that the weather is simply awful. Much of the year it is cold, snowy, ice covered, windy, and for some us just miserable. However there is nothing quite as wonderful as a summer in Vermont. The results of my very NON-scientific study reports that during the summer people are at the beach, eating hot dogs, and simply enjoying summer, worries about winter’s cold are ignored.
For months, no make that years, we have talked about a well-insulated home. Those numerous discussions included Fiberglass, Cellulose, Foam, Blown in Fiberglass, and Rock Wool. We invite you to go back and re-read some of the previous blog posts.
This weekend is Labor Day, the unofficial end of summer. Oh did I mention it is awful for those of us that love summer!?
Not only is it the end of summer or beginning of Autumn but it is also the time of year that many of The Crazies come out and start preaching about how to winterize you home.
Do you believe it is already the first of September? Where did the time go? I am suggesting that Summer simply slow down and hang around longer. This coming weekend is Labor Day the unofficial end of summer. (excuse me while I weep and wail)
Just this morning we were down in southern Vermont checking out a job site and finalizing drawings for a winter ski house. The plans call for this rather large ski house to be finished and occupied by Thanksgiving. Is that possible? Of course it is!
Yesterday we took a look at water wells. That would be the fresh or clean water entering your home. Today we take a look at the……, well shall we say, “not so clean” water that leaves your home. By the way that water is politely referred to as effluent. No, no! We said effluent not affluent. We are talking about waste not money. J
For the past days and days we have been looking at a modular home being worked on. We saw a site-built garage added along with a Mud Room/Entry.
Before the garage project we looked at building a front porch on another modular home. Today and tomorrow we will show you pictures of the two completed projects.
